CURRENT MONTESSORI PROJECTS:

Through our persistence and commitment, SRO has earned approval from the Xinjiang Education Board to introduce Montessori into Xinjiang. So far, we have successfully sponsored five schools in Lop Nur Xinjiang, provided professional Montessori training to local teachers, and donated Montessori supplies to each of the schools. Phd professor Ms. Yang Hong from Chinese Montessori Society was invited to Lop Nur and conducted an intensive training program in which all local teachers passing the final exam were given the internationally recognized "Montessori Teacher Certificate". Meanwhile, we continue to schedule periodic training sessions every summer to ensure all Montessori teachers are well up to speed and well qualified. Prizes and gifts are given to all participating teachers as we hope to encourage more motivated local individuals to become a part of our programs and work to become proud Xinjiang Montessori teachers.

HOW DO WE OPERATE?

Currently, the majority of our Montessori projects are located at Lop Nur, Xinjiang. Below are some facts about the mysterious Lop Nur:

Lop Nor in China is a group of small, now seasonal salt lake sand marshes between the Taklamakan and Kuruktag deserts in the Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, southeastern portion of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the People's Republic of China which lists in the undiscovered China attractions.

Lop Nor was a terminal, huge lake of the Tarim River and several other rivers. Lop Nur is Mongolian and means “the Lake Converging Many Water Sources”. Lop Lake is hydrologically endorheic—it is landbound and there is no outlet.Though undiscovered China attraction Lop Nor in China was determined to be a single salt lake by ancient Chinese geographers, the Lop lake system of Lop Nor has largely dried up from its 1928 measured area of 3,100 km2. Once a vast lake in ancient times, Lop Nor has entirely dried up, deserted, wild, wasteland with extremely hot weather and dilapidated walls today. People were retaliated by the nature world for destroying natural environment without restraint. Your undiscovered China tour in Lop Nur can make you strongly think about the issue of environmental protection.

The world-famous ancient city of Loulan, situated in the west of the Lop Nor, was the hub of communications in the Western Regions and occupied a very important position on the ancient Silk Road which is also attraction of undiscovered China. From around 1800 BCE until the 9th century the lake of Lop Nor supported a thriving Tocharian culture. Archaeologists have discovered the buried remains of settlements, as well as several of the Tarim mummies, along ancient shoreline of undiscovered China Lop Nur.Former water resources of the Tarim River and Lop Nor in China nurtured the kingdom of Loulan Ancient City since the second century BCE which is an ancient civilization along the Silk Road and skirted the lake-filled basin.Unfortunately, because of the environmental shift in the area of Lop Nor, from the year 330, the lake along Loulan Ancient City in Lop Nor area was desiccated, and the Loulan Kingdom was vanished in 630.For finding out the mystery of Lop Nor, explorers from all over the world came close on one another’s heels. Most areas of this route are full of difficulties, beads of sweat and even blood. For example, Marco Polo passed near the Lop Nor Lake, and the famous explorers Ferdinand von Richthofen, Nikolai Przhevalsky, Sven Hedin and Aurel Stein visited and studied this mysterious undiscovered China area.
