Silk Road Oasis

丝路之舟

As Silk Road Oasis’ co-founders, we were both born in Xinjiang, and moved to the United States at the age of fourteen to pursue western education and to chase the American dream. Having lived through the instabilities in Xinjiang and having experienced different kinds of world-class education in the United States, we believe that education was the key in our search for a way to change our hometown. We put our hopes in education, as education was what gave us new hope, direction, and meaning in our lives.

Although the traditional form of Chinese education has produced many outstanding students, it lacks the focus on personal independence and social responsibility that Western education does. We seek to introduce these Western concepts to children while keeping the strengths and benefits of the traditional Chinese education. At the same time, we are also focused on and are doing as much as we can to assist underprivileged schools and children in the region; we understand in some places improvements in basic living conditions and studying materials have to be done before we can introduce a new education method.

We have special ties with Xinjiang, a vast, mysterious, and strikingly beautiful land on the Silk Road that we also call home. We hope to use our passion, combined with the support of all those who are passionate about education, hope, and peace, to turn Xinjiang from desert to oasis, an oasis of ever lasting peace.
